Unclaimed checks are payments issued by the City, which are not cashed. The Finance Department of the City of Marina holds these payments, which are not the property of the City, for three (3) years after the date of issue. After that time, pursuant to State of California Government Code Section 50050, the City is required to publish a public notice listing these unclaimed amounts, which are three (3) or more years past their issue date.
Introducing Web Posting of Public Notice for Unclaimed Checks List
The City of Marina published a Public Notice in the Monterey Herald Legal Notices section on June 21, 2015 alerting the public that the City is holding unclaimed checks. This list can be viewed on this website, and instructions and claim form can be downloaded. Claim forms can be filed starting June 22, 2015 with the last day to file a claim form is August 6, 2015.
Claim forms are to be submitted by mail or in-person. No faxed or emailed forms will be accepted.
