In August 2009, the Marina Police Department reinstated it's School Resource Officer Program. The Marina Police Department’s School Resource Officer is currently funded through a cost sharing agreement between the Marina Police Department and the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District. The department and the school district selected Officer Pablo Andrade to be the next School Resource Officer for schools located in the city of Marina. Our current School Resource Officer for the coming school year is Officer Michael Ball
The program provides avenues through which students, parents, faculty and law enforcement personnel can become acquainted, and develop mutual respect. It also enhances school safety by having a police officer present on the campus. The School Resource Officer rotates his time between all the schools in Marina throughout the week.
School resource programs are part of the Marina Police Departments commitment to community relations, school safety, and the prevention and control of juvenile delinquency and drug abuse.
